Katerina Petrova and Scrum Diddly Umptious have been involved with the Dwendalian Empire for a long time; too long, actually. When Katerina’s patron and essential captor got his hand on the Luxon Beacon, a mysterious Kryn weapon that threatens to escalate the conflict to apocalyptic porportions, both females decided to enact a plan to steal the beacon away, though their plans did not overlap until they both encountered each other in Marcus Arralyn’s workshop and were forced to fight their way out and ended up on the run together, the Luxon Beacon in tow.

Katerina set up contact with a fence, a goblin named Dusant so the fated pair of thieves made their way to the small logging town of Tussoa. The goblin was unwilling to pay for it, but a human male in his lair took a particular interest and seemed to follow Scrum and Katerina as they made their way to Port Dimali, seeking a more willing buyer Dusant recommended: Elias in the Tumbledowns.

They were paid to protect a ship of logs that sailed the river south to Port Dimali and found their way to Elias’s place of operation: a brothel named the Jeweled Star. There, he expressed a desire to trust the people who does business with and asked them to recover a large, dust-red stone that was taken from him by a jeweler in the Beaded Alley. With that returned, he’s happy to fence the Beacon for them.

When they reached the jewelry store, however, they found it protected from the crowded street with a slight illusion magic that threatened to distract them from their goal by causing them to forget. The front door’s glass window was cracked and grew larger when they entered to find a distrubing Fey creature circling the gem and humming while the jewel sat in protected case in the center of the floor.

The partners decided to flee rather than be questioned and ran into a group of guards, led by the male from Dusant’s lair, who apparently cast “locate object” on the beacon to follow them. Scrum was magically put to sleep, while Katerina fought the guards, biting off one’s finger before she was beaten into submission and they were arrested.
