Our peace at sea was shortlived, as the past seems to have come to claim Jedek. For there, emerging from the Sea of Storms was the horrifying vision of a ship thought long ago lost, and its brutal captain along with it. Jedek’s face said it all, for in the short time I’ve known him I have never seen him so full of fear. He stood there frozen, before seemingly snapping out of it and calling for all hands.
We fled, but the Leviathan was made for these seas, and it wasn’t long before we heard the horrifying sound of The Hook. It made quick work of snagging our rudder and keeping us in place while the ship got ever closer. I attempted to break the chain, but seemingly no amount of fire could heat the link enough to sever the tie, and the crew couldn’t seem to unlodge it by other means. Through our struggles, we watched as several members of the Leviathan climbed along the chain with the intention of boarding us. This caused both Severin and Treldaan to focus their efforts on helping me break the chain.- through alchemical fire and gunfire.
This didn’t amount to enough, as fishmen climbed the rear of our ship. And before anyone could really do much, we had been well and fully boarded. Though I continued to work on the chainlink, the going was a lot slower as I fought to protect both myself and my crew. We couldn’t be taken. I had seen the scars that Jedek bares, and I knew that more than anything. The crew knew this all too well, as the back mast broke off, and they began cutting lines in the hopes to get us out of here - now that the chain to the Hook is severed.

The cannon fire is deafening as we work to avoid sinking. Treldaan had the idea to attach our Mystrium cargo to our ballista bolts in an attempt to aid in our escape. While I had the fleeting thought that this might prove to be a problem later, it only will be if we make it out of this. Our attempts, while causing damage, are not enough and it isn’t long before we are boarded yet again. The Leviathan isn’t attacking from far away any longer, they’ve pulled up alongside. It’s become personal, and I’m not sure I can handle it.
I know my tattoos are running, the seals melting under the immense pressure of trying to survive, to live, to escape. The deck is a mass of fighting bodies, and I’m doing everything I can to stop more from joining the fray, but it seems an impossible task. Which is when it happens. There, standing above me, in all his terrifying might stands Byron Caine. The voices in my head laugh and scream, as all I can think is “Run”.

He didn’t see me, but I don’t think I can stay here. I need to get control. After taking some shelter behind the mast, and regaining some much-needed control, it wasn’t long before Sev and Treldaan joined me. We watch, but it’s clear that Caine has only one goal in mind, Jedek. But I’ll be damned if I let, even a being of legends, have him. The boys seem to be in at least some sort of agreement, as we all begin attacking Caine in the hopes of defending our Captain from him.
Though we are landing blows - I’ll be it from a distance - it doesn’t seem to deter Caine as he lays into Jedek, bloodying him until he lays there unconscious, at the very least I hope unconscious. We attack, but it is clear that we have lost this fight. As he approaches slowly, Byron Caine makes it clear that we have lost, “Your ship’s ablaze, your captain’s down… You all belong to me now.” Seeing no way out, and having fought to the point of exhaustion, we surrender.
