King Rummond
King Rummond was a broad-shouldered, boisterous, kind-hearted centaur. He was initially a member of the court of King Julius, but Julius’ wife died in childbirth along with their child. On his death bed, Julius asked Rummond to be his heir, as he was wise and truly cared for the citizens of their realm. Rummond accepted, and rushed to Brenna to ask her to marry him (she refused for two years, but finally relented).
Rummond was beloved by his subjects and his daughter, Princess Ayla. His reign was peaceful until the events before the Blockade. He was focused on ensuring that all of his subjects could be fed, clothed, and housed, and that they had freedoms in his realm that were not afforded them elsewhere. The church was not fond of him as he did not save a portion of taxes for them, but his people were wealthy enough to tithe heavily, and so they did not move against him.
When his wife, Queen Brenna, passed of natural causes, he was distraught, but put on a brave face for his people. It took three years for him to smile again. He had a statue erected for her in the royal gardens, and often spent his days there, talking through his problems in her presence to soothe himself. Ayla would sometimes join him there for casual meals.
Rummond died during the attack on Tide’s End, just before the Blockade. He and Ayla gave their lives to push Ysimer back, and give their people a chance to survive.
