Arthur Bryant is the commander on station that is tasked with being the handler of the Aux Squad, a squad of freelancers contracted to be “unofficial” limbs of the Union Navy. Legally, what they do is considered done by a third party, and certain restrictions about what Union can command them to do apply. Bryant is the officer overseeing this particular deployment.
