The group heads to Cragrest, and are turned away by the guards after getting a note by the sheriff to go back at nightfall with no armour, weapons and 1 silver. The party gives a frog a cigarette to hide their items in a grove.
As they head to Cragrest, large guards handcuff the group after apparently having a warrant out for them, as according to the note, and the group are willingly chained up and lead into Cragrest.
They are lead to the basement with a torture chamber and horrible terrible conditions. Vayne finds a note from the sherrif, who is called Heathcliff Alaric. He wants to interrogate everyone one-on-one. He starts by taking Vayne, despite Hugh asking. The rest of the group get riddles.
Vayne comes out looking depressed, giving a second riddle to the group as Theric goes in to be interrogated.
Theric comes out, causing ruckus with the guards (see: Manji) with the third riddle.
Juni looks fine, her legs are shaky, she gives us the fourth riddle.
Leo also looks fine. He gives a final riddle. The party put the riddles together to get “sun and moon, not to blame” and assume that someone is causing the eclipses.
Heathcliff gives everyone vip rooms in a tavern and 50 gold, the guards are not very happy sucks to be them. They are ushered to Agnes Alehouse. Agnes and Clement settle them in. The party get tomorrows breakfast, lunch and dinner on the house as Heathcliff politely says he’ll pay for it all. Vayne subsequently orders everything on the ‘Merchants Menu’.
Stafford Pommel cleans all the partys weapons and stuff and the party get them back, we get 100 gold.
Leo gets sent to DM whisper, Vayne does a reading for Theric and Juniper. Juniper gets told “Siren” mirrors her own feelings in a card w a boat mirroring a lady on each side, and Theric gets told his mentor is looking for him through a card that shows two people huddling in a cave. The party levels up.
Afterwards, the party sees Leo and Clement forming a plan. Heathcliff calls the party to help in his plan, and says he`s not gonna pay toward Marrontowns debt, but he will give the party money in exchange for helping him become king of the Boglands. He says the party will have a place in “his world”. Everyone agrees to help.
His list of tasks include: head to Celestialis, interrogate observatory for timings of the eclipse; organise a large enough force in Swordmarsh, secure army; be diplomats and representatives in Timber Hall to organise a pact with the dwarf kings against the underling invaders; investigate Mist Rock to find out stuff about Garaboldt Tarwick. But first, priority mission is to go to Pinebrook and look into the repair of a ship and investigate King Desmond II. Garaboldt may be in cahoots with the Drider king. 3 Key spots to unleash Drider King, Catacombs of Eldritch Horror near Swordmarsh; Bastards Barrow next to Barrowbugh; Hellmouth is documented but not known, the underdark opens there and if it happens the world is taken over- in speculation.
Prophecies: before entering Cragrest, asked if we will be in danger. It is too hazy to see anything. At the basement, will the party be hurt again, the stars translate to “Believe this man for he speaks true, he only has good intentions for you, but mind yourself when walking through, if the guards smell fish you will meet your doom.”
