Session 1 - Intel
The crew know very little - mostly just hired muscle from over the Sword Coast. The “strike team” of the Halfling thief and half-elf monk know only a little bit more. They are experienced pirates who frequently do “extraction” jobs like this, and know not to ask too many questions.
The Captain, Lucile Blackwood, opens up immediately. A striking figure, standing tall at 6’2” with a lean and muscular build, her deep crimson skin is marked with faint tattoos in infernal, and a pair of large, curling ram’s horns emerge from her forehead, giving her a menacing and devilish appearance. She has orange eyes with reptilian pupils that seem to glint with a cruel intelligence, and a wide, toothy grin with long, sharp canines that she flashes often, as if relishing the danger and excitement of her pirate lifestyle. She seems to love the sound of her own voice and is more than happy to regal you with her life story.
The daughter of a minor noble and a succubus, she spent her youth as a commander in the navy of Baldur’s Gate, until she was expelled for her ruthless tactics and questionable methods as her fiendish side manifested more and more (both physically and personality wise). She turned to piracy, and quickly gained a reputation as one of the most feared pirates on the seas.
While officially expelled from the Lord’s Alliance, Captain Blackwood still has contacts within the organization. She often works as a hired gun for the Alliance, carrying out covert operations that are too risky or unpopular for their own agents. She is paid handsomely for her services, and he uses the Alliance’s resources to expand her own criminal empire. She claims there is a whole battalion of ships on their way to rescue her, and it doesn’t seem like she is joking.
She has no loyalty to the Lord’s Alliance and happily tells you that they hired her to intercept the vessel because they learned it was carrying contraband for the Resistance (apparently from a disgruntled former owner of a now defunct drink-shop). She was later approached by the Red Wizards who paid her to have two operatives on board “for their own purposes” which she doesn’t know and didn’t ask.
