Thumb Ring
Mark of the Thumbs
Thumb Rings denote rank and position in the organization.
A thin circle of magic metal with a 1mm enchanted garnet inlaid simply in the metal.
The metal changes color to denote rank. Higher-ranking members receive more garnets.
5-Garnet: An Open Palm of Thuu’rzet, highest ranking members besides the Demon-Lord himself. Holds sway over multiple civilizations’ worth of Thumbs.
4-Garnet. A Closed Fist of Thuu’rzet, denoting control over the thumbs in one kingdom or large region. Rank only held by wizened Knuckles that managed to survive enough assignments, but couldn’t shake the Family, even after receiving their Pension.
3-Garnet. The Knuckles of Thuu’rzet. These members are given the most difficult assignments, and offered no compensation from the Thumbs immediately, save the glorious Pension at the end of their service.
2-Garnet. The Eyes of Thuu’rzet, who serve as mid-level informants, secret-keepers, and assignment handlers. One quickly realizes that if they would like to survive promotion, the Eyes need their Thumbs to keep a hold on things.
1-Garnet. The Thumbs of Thuu’rzet. Akin to an initiate, Thumbs are treated with respect by the higher-ups. They do the bulk of the legwork for the organization.
Metallic ranks subdivide garnet ranks into 3 layers. Members of lower ranks presumably defer to those above.
Gold - high.
Silver - middle.
Brass - low.
