Finn "Powerful Wizard" Giantsbane
Halfling Blood Hunter / Wizard
Finn had been searching for Eric Compton for a few days, hoping to cash in the generous bounty put on his head. He wasn’t sure why the guy was wanted dead or alive, and frankly he didn’t really care. Same plan as always: find the criminal, follow him home, wait until he’s asleep, sneak in and that’s it. With a sword to their throat most men dropped all their bravado and were easy enough to bring in. And after a few days of asking around Finn found the location of Eric: a shady inn located in the Mosaic Ward. It was deep in the night when the guy finally left the place.
As Finn followed the surprisingly pale Eric into a dark alleyway, the guy suddenly turned around and hissed “why are you following me, little man?”. Finn noticed the sharp fangs in the moonlight and his heart sunk in his chest - this was way above his pay grade. He shuffled a step back, “I’m sorry mister, no idea what you are talking about. Just wanted to relieve my bladder!”. Eric grinned a crooked smile. “I hear you’ve been asking about me. You know what? Lets you and me really get to know each other.. intimately”. The vampire laughed out loud, walking towards Finn who immediately turned around to run away, only to bump into two guys with big grins on their faces and red glowing eyes. “We’ll hold him for you, master” they cackled in unison. Finn smelled death on them.
Finn acted as on auto-pilot and drew his weapons and attacked the two blocking his path, hoping to mow his way through them and away from Eric. Blood flew everywhere while Finn, screaming, became a flurry of steel driven by utter fear. But it was too late - Eric grabbed Finn by his shoulders and pulled him off his feet. Not a second later Finn felt a sharp pain as two fangs dug into his neck.
It was at this moment that Seamus and a few other followers of the Raven Queen entered the alley. They had been following Eric as well and came rushing in when they heard the screaming. Faced with the growing challenge and the situation getting much more complicated all of a sudden, Eric dropped Finn to the ground, changed into a bat, and flew away. The group looked at the bloody carnage and took the unconscious Finn to their base, a temple of the Raven Queen.
Normal healing magic was used on Finn, to no effect. This was highly unusual and worrisome. They put Finn in a bed and watched over him, not knowing what to do. Finn’s condition got worse and worse and as the sun began to rise he was about to die when Vesemir stepped into the room. This grizzled blood hunter was called by the church to try and save the brave halfling, who fought off two undead and might have information on Eric.
At dawn Vesemir used his blood magic and healed Finn, in the nick of time.
Finn stayed at the temple to heal and rest, to gain back his strength, during which time he made a strong friendship with Jake, the guard dog of the temple. That, and the feeling of owing a life debt to Seamus, Vesemir and the Raven Queen, made Finn decide to stick around. Killing undead? Being part of a holy mission? Blood magic? Sounds like adventure!
