The “Unidentified Beings” investigation encompasses the mysterious appearances of entities who have manifested before crew members of the Night Wind. These supernatural encounters suggest the crew’s journey has attracted attention from divine or near-divine forces, each with their own cryptic messages and purposes.
The Tragedienne (April 24, 1690)
Encountered By: Alethea during supernatural manifestations in the Phantom Sea
Physical Appearance: Spectral manifestation of a tall, strong woman wearing a crown of ivy
The Tragedienne appeared exclusively to Alethea during a night when floating coffins surrounded the ship and crew members experienced visions of deceased loved ones. While other crew members saw personal apparitions, Alethea encountered this unique divine figure who directly addressed her with a cryptic question: “Do you remember this tragedy?” The entity’s ivy crown and Greek styling suggest connections to classical mythology, though her specific identity remains unknown.
The Rune Carver (April 26, 1690)
Encountered By: Sabine during supernatural storm in the Phantom Sea
Physical Appearance: Tall woman with richly tanned skin, brown hair, golden crown topped with stars
The Rune Carver manifested during Sabine’s watch as a supernatural storm and whirlpool threatened the ship. She delivered an ominous prophecy: that she was called because of Sabine’s death. Most significantly, she dragged her fingers across the ship’s banister, causing arcane runes to carve themselves into the wood through supernatural force before vanishing as the storm broke.
Love Song (April 27, 1690)
Encountered By: Alethea within Circe’s temple on the mysterious island
Physical Appearance: Tall woman with blonde hair containing gold, white silk robes, holding flowers
Love Song appeared to Alethea in a narrow temple passage after the party solved the Love riddle. The encounter began with Alethea hearing a beautiful lullaby-like song that filled her with uplifting energy. The entity raised flowers, blowing petals outward and scattering them toward Alethea before vanishing. Sabine saw and smelled the flowers but not the entity, confirming some it wasn’t just a hallucination.
The Lullaby:
“And in that song, two hearts beat as one—a deep pulse, vast and slow, echoing through the dark. One held silence, the other sound. One was still, the other starlight. One was sweet, the other chaos, but together, they were the sea.”
