Princess Ayla
Princess Ayla was a slender and beautiful centaur, and was just barely an adult when Tide’s End was attacked. She was dearly loved by the people of Tide’s End, especially the farmers just outside the walls and the fisherman at the docks. She used her magic to improve their yield, and once during a particularly bad drought, she helped the farmers build a new well that filtered salt out of seawater.
When her mother passed, Ayla blamed herself for not being able to help fight off her disease. It took several years for her to forgive herself and move forward. Brenna taught Ayla to care for her people over herself, and Ayla did so with ease, only sharing her fears and burdens with her handmaiden, “Airja” (Artificial Intelligence Royal Joy-bringer Automaton), who she affectionately referred to as Airy.
Ysimer’s attack on Tide’s End was projected a full year before it came, and Ayla worked hard with Captain Targe and King Rummond to find a way to protect their people. In the end, all they could do was push Ysimer’s influence back. Ayla used her life energy and Rummond’s physical might to confine Ysimer’s link to the Material Plane to one spot, deep under Tide’s End. Their bodies are still there, frozen like statues, hands linked around Ysimer’s point of connection to keep him at bay.
